About Me

Hello! Welcome to my website, I am so glad that you are here. Here is a little about me to see if we would be a good fit to work together. I am an Army brat and have traveled a lot due to my father retiring from the United States Army. I was born in Germany and was able to experience living in South Korea as a small child, which was an incredible experience. I believe that traveling helped me to be open and accept people as they are. It also opened my eyes to see that just because someone is living differently than I, doesn't mean it is a negative thing. I love to travel and see all of God's beauty.

Education: I received my Bachelor's Degree at The University of Reno, Nevada. I completed my Master's Degree at Liberty University as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was able to balance finishing my degree online as I had my second child; it was not easy but by God's grace and a lot of help from family and friends I was able to complete all my training and education. I have completed multiple trainings in CBT and am trained in EMDR as well as training in Play Therapy. I continue to expand my education every year as I complete my continuing education units.

Faith: I have been a Christian all my life; had seasons of not walking close to the Lord but always came back. I have been attending Summit Christian Church for over 17 years and am active in serving in Kid's Ministry as well as being a leader for my Women's Community Group in my home. I enjoy incorporating faith in the counseling setting when requested. I believe that having faith in the Lord gives hope, peace, and an extra measure of strength.

Family: I am married to my sweet husband who was a high school teacher for over 25 years; as well as coached soccer. Now retired and coaching our 9 year daughters' club team in Reno. I have 3 children: my son who is married and in the United States Navy, my 9 year old daughter who enjoys soccer and Jijitsu, and my step-daughter who is finishing her schooling at TMCC. We also have a 2 year old Aussiedoodle dog named Sasha who comes to work with me and loves to cuddle and support all my clients.

I am passionate about my career and love to come alongside others to help navigate what they are going through to be able to live their best lives and become the person they want to be. I offer walk and talk therapy by the beautiful Truckee River, Telehealth session (video), in my cozy/safe office setting, and or sitting outside in the beautiful backyard of the office building.

Starting therapy can be scary at first but anything hard is worth doing for the positive outcome which is healing from past or current situations that are holding you back from living your best life! Healing and changing old behaviors is not a quick fix; it takes time, patience, hard work, commitment, and intentionality. You can do anything you put your mind to! I am here to help!
